Colin Doe prepares for Cycle Italy: Conquer the Alps

Our Managing Director, Colin Doe, is currently in training for an Italian mountain cyle which will take place over two days in September to raise money for Parkinson’s UK. This impressive challenge covers three of Italy’s famous mountain climbs: Passo dello Stelvio (2,758 metre peak) on the 9th, followed by Passo di Gavia (a peak of 2,621m followed by a 30km descent) and the final 1,850m Mortirolo Pass on the 10th.

To kick start his fundraising efforts, Colin put several of his business contacts through their paces recently at a drivers challenge at our head office in Ulting.

The weather was absolutely glorious; perfect for an alfresco BBQ followed by the opportunity to try out six different machines on our demonstration field. The equipment ranged from a small excavator right through to an impressive combine harvester and everybody rose to the challenge, resulting in a thoroughly entertaining afternoon and a great fund raiser. Thank you to Strutt and Parker, Kemsley’s, Birketts, RSM, Cadman Construction, Richard Wollaston, Poole and Pattle and CBS for your generous support.

The Drivers Challenge was the first of a series of events scheduled by Colin who is also offering staff at Ernest Doe the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win a day’s holiday whilst he assumes their job (or an Ernest Doe role of the winner’s choice) for one day. Entry is limited to staff members but we shall publish an update once Colin has been assigned his temporary job for your entertainment! In the meantime, if you would like to support this worthy cause, donations can be made on Colin’s JustGiving page:

Parkinson’s UK

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. There’s currently no cure for Parkinson’s and we don’t yet know why people get the condition. But there are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help manage the condition and Parkinson’s UK is driving better care and quality of life, whilst steering ground breaking research to improve treatments and to find a cure. Find out more here.
