We are delighted to report that our Managing Director, Colin Doe, was successful in his bid to ‘Conquer the Alps’, following months of intense training and has raised over £12,000 for Parkinson’s UK!
Earlier this month, Colin scaled the three peaks (Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo), much of it in driving rain, so he was grateful for the training he had done as it allowed him to enjoy the experience, despite being covered in muck being spread by a New Holland tractor as he crossed the finish line (you couldn’t make it up!). According to Colin, the best part was the descent down the Mortirolo, often reaching 60kph between hairpins! It was a long hard grind to get to the top of each summit and there was an unexpected further 1,700ft climb back to the hotel, after already having cycled up 12,750ft, so it was a relief to be able to sit down at the hotel and let his accomplishment sink in.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the challenge and contributed to this worthy cause – with more funding for research, Parkinson’s could be beaten or at least contained to prevent the gradual deterioration sufferers experience, so thank you again for helping to make a difference.
Congratulations Colin – an amazing feat!
