A real buzz of optimism surrounded the 2008 Doe Show with orders a plenty received in all departments. "Three days of blue skies and sunshine drew the crowds with well over 12,000 visitors to the Show - a record attendance " reports Graham Parker, Sales Director. "We always knew that this year's Show would be a big one for us with all sectors of our business seeing somewhat of a boom time; so we had anticipated and planned for a big crowd".
Although bright sunshine the wind had a keen bite and the free hot drinks served by our own team of ladies really went down well, especially after spending time on our demonstration fields.
As popular as ever the demonstration plots had both tractors and implements showing today's very latest technology and techniques, through to "yesteryear" showing how it used to be done. There was also a very special line-up of "Tractors through the Ages" showing tractors from each decade covering the 1920s through to the 1980s.
The Fordson does a stirling job
"Sound advice from both the "Doe Team" and the manufacturers makes the Doe Show the ideal place to buy equipment for the coming seasons - there is no doubt we have seen a dramatic upturn in our agricultural machinery sales and for the remainder of 2008 there will be a shortage of some machinery, especially imported goods", reported Graham Parker. "The level of business concluded at the Show suggests many customers have thought ahead and used the Show to forward order their requirements and secure the delivery they require - all blessed with taking full advantage of extra discounts and 'bargain pricing'".
So the Doe Show 2008 has to be classed as a resounding success with record crowds and certainly record sales. If you came we hope that you enjoyed your day and grabbed yourself a bargain; if you missed this year's Doe Show please mark your diary for 4th, 5th, 6th February 2009 when we do hope you will join us.
Harper and Eede enjoyed a busy South of England Show which was held over the three days
of 8th 9th and 10th June. The large stand representing the Agricultural, Construction and
Groundcare divisions of the company attracted much public and trade interest. The 648m
square
stand certainly put the Harper and Eede group in the forefront of
minds and was a clear indication that the business is forging ahead. The stand was awarded
first prize in the trade stand category and the attached picture shows Mr Colin Doe Managing
Director of the Ernest Doe Group and Phil Bush Branch Manager of the Albourne branch
being presented with the trophy my Viscount and Lady De L’Isle president of the South of
England Agricultural Society.
Congratulations to Karl Last, show and demonstration manager, and his team for
designing the Ernest Doe and Ernest Doe Power stand at the Suffolk show which was
awarded first prize for the "Most attractive and well laid out agricultural machinery and
implement dealer stand" and another for the overall "Best stand in the show".

ARTICULATED DUMPERS
A new and exciting
manufacturer added to the Ernest Doe range for 2006 is Neuson Dumpers. Neuson Limited, part of the Austrian based Neuson Kramer Group, offers an extensive range of 4-wheel drive articulated dumpers with capacities from 1 to 9 tonne, all now sporting the company's red corporate livery. This new colour scheme brings the machines into line with the company's other products and certainly makes them stand out on site.
Having pioneered the small hydrostatic drive dumper and become the UK market leader in the sub 1 tonne class, Neuson upgraded its highly popular 850kg machine to carry a one tonne payload. In standard form the model 1001 has a width of 1180 mm but, in reduced 850 kg capacity guise, it can be supplied with a narrow wheel option and an overall width of just 990 mm. The 1001 is powered by an economical, clean running Yanmar diesel engine - in this case developing 12.1 kW (16.5 hp) @ 2200 rpm - and, like all models in the Neuson range, great care has been taken to design a modern looking, robust machine which features a sturdy, wrap around leg protection guard which double as the instrument panel.
The 1501, 2001, 3001, 4001 and 5001 models, which have payloads from 1.5 to 5 tonne, also all feature hydrostatic drive. This efficient drive system ensures the best possible combinations of torque and speed for the job in hand.
Operation of these machines is made particularly easy with a simple steering column flick switch for changes in direction plus an accelerator pedal to control speed. Braking is provided by a combination of foot pedal and hydrostatic retardation plus an effective parking brake using a wet disc in each motor. The 4001 and 5001 units are both powered by 4-cylinder engines, turbocharged in the case of the 5 tonne unit, with outputs of 33.7 kW (43.8 hp) and 38.6 kW (52.5 hp) respectively.
The 9001 Neuson dumper is the largest in the range. Its manoeuvrability, fast cycle times and reliability stand it out from its competitors.
At the top end of the Neuson range is the 6 and 9 tonne models which feature heavy-duty skips and substantial box sections capable of withstanding the toughest site conditions. The flagship 9001, forward-tip machine is equipped with a Perkins 1004 turbocharged diesel engine developing 74.5 kW (100 hp). This engine transmits power to all four wheels via a 4-speed torque converter and power shuttle transmission, giving a speed range from 0 to 27 km/h. The 6 tonne payload swivel skip 6001 is fitted with a non-turbocharged version of the same Perkins 1004 engine, in this case developing 60 kW (82 hp) @2200 rpm, and drives through a similar transmisson. As with all Neuson's latest dumpers, ease of routine maintenance and servicing is unmatched in the industry, made possible by large, high-lift canopies which allow uninterrupted access to the engine bay.
Ernest Doe are running a number of demonstration machines throughout the year so book your on site demonstration today.
